Some time ago, I publicly asked for anyone out there to send me a postcard Paul Cox has made for Théâtre du Nord, and look! Jeromy from Emporium’s sent me, not one, but the whole series of postcards! Thanks Jeremy! I’m the happiest.

By the way, check out Emporium’s if you haven’t yet. It is an art blog, covering artists, exhibitions, books, events and more. You can also follow on Instagram.

Paul Cox made new visuals for Théâtre du Nord, and these are promotional prints my friend grabbed from a bookstore. He gifted me the bottom one or I half forced him. Merci Alexis! One of the shapes reminds me of the 10×10 original Mattie surprised me with a while back.

Now if someone can find me the upper one… ; )

Last few weeks passed by like a storm. The day after returning from Italy, I made a last minute trip out to LA. Much needed trip to be with my family. Plenty of intense and tiring moments, but all in all, thankful that everything is ok now. Also thankful of witnessing little subtleties which I would’ve never noticed otherwise.

A few days after returning to Paris, it was my birthday. Mattie surprised me with an original artwork by Paul Cox he bought from 10×10 event. It was a huge surprise! There is a long back story of me being very disappointed of not being able to buy one ; )

PAST WEEKS AND A SURPRISE - angdoo.com/blog

Even though the storm feels as it has passed, I can’t  just chill yet. In fact, I’m off to Amsterdam tomorrow for two weeks for work. It’ll be a fun job so I look forward to it, but I’m very much looking forward to be back home beginning August and start my summer holiday. Time for our tandem trip <3

PAUL COX / ARTIST CRUSH - angdoo.com/blog

Paul Cox is a French artist/designer, whose works branch into many different disciplines. He has deigned posters, art directed for theatres, made children’s books, exhibited at galleries, and more. I admire his ability translate his look and feel into many different types of mediums. I’m a fan of his playful colors and innocent shapes.

A few days ago, I had a chance to listen to him speaking about his creative process at the event <Recontre avec Paul Cox> at la Gaîté lyrique. It was interesting to find out that his visually naive and organic outcomes usually have a complex backstory. He often creates a complex system or almost like a puzzle to realize his works. It was great to see many of his work during the talk as his work is not widely distributed over internet.

You can watch the whole talk here (in French).

One thing from his talk that particularly stood out for me is that he draws everyday for at least two hours. Something I’d like to follow.

Some of these drawings are exhibiting right now at mymonkey gallery till April 22, 2016. If you are near Nancy, France, definitely drop by.
