Leaves from Kyoto, Japan.
JAPAN / HERBIER
2016 / HERBIER
I realized I pressed some leaves in late 2016 which I still haven’t archived on my herbier collection. I guess I’ve been busy and lazy. I have to admit I’ve been quite slow with my herbier collection, and cold and wet weather doesn’t help. Over the weekend, I finally set down and took the long waited leaves out from the presser and tape them on to my herbier paper. This process is always very calming. Fragile leaves force you to handle them with care and respect. And once they are archived, they will always be handled with respect. It’s amazing how such a mundane thing could become so worthy.
While archiving, I also took some time to go through the leaves in my collection.
I can’t wait for the weather to warm up to start herbier of 2017.
PRESSED FLOWERS / HERBIER
I only pressed leaves until now. This time I pressed flowers for the first time. The flowers from Mattie : )
FRAMED / HERBIER
I’ve been thinking about framing some of my pressed leaves for ages. And I finally did it!
A side note: All those tiny leaves fold up during the night and open up again in the morning. Amazing : )
BUSY PRESSER / HERBIER
Pressed leave out of the presser,
and new leaves into the presser.
HERBIER
Some leaves I collected and pressed recently..
HERBIER / SEASON BEGINS
The real summer has finally arrived in Paris! This means I head out on my bike with my fancy leaf collecting tin box (a present from Mattie last year), and go leaf hunting!
I have so many more leaves drying in my leaf presser at the moment. I feel very full and rich ; )
HERBIER / LEAVES FROM THE SUMMER
Leaves I collected over the summer holiday. They have been pressed and now in my herbier book. Some are furry and soft. I wish you could feel them : )
By the way, do you know the names of any of these leaves?
HERBIER / FIRST PAGES
My first batch of pressed leaves now fills the first pages of my herbier book. A start of my collection.
I don’t know the names of these plants (if you know any of their names, please let me know!). So instead of the names, I’ve decided to write down the moment leading up to or while finding the plants, like a short diary.
And I found more plants to go under the leaf presser. This one is fascinating – all the tiny leaves fold up during the night and open again in the morning. Does anyone know the name? : )
HERBIER / RED LEAVES
Leaves I found. This got sandwiched between the leaf presser when I got home. I wonder if the color will stay after pressed and dried.
