WORKSHOP / BORDEAUX - ANGDOO.COM/BLOG

I’ve done my very first workshop at ECV Paris last year. I’ve never taught before so I wasn’t sure what I was getting into. Yet it turned out to be a great experience, which actually led me to teach a year-long class at ECV Paris. ECV also has a branch in Bordeaux, and they have invited me to be a part of their workshop week this year. So last week, I went down to Bordeaux for a week to lead a stop-motion workshop.

The most exciting part of the workshop for me is when the students finish their pre-productions and start animating. It somehow renews my love for stop-motion when I see the excitement in their faces after they see their characters move for the very fist time.

I also like their looseness. The professional stop-motion process is very stiff and controlled for many reasons, and it is necessary for client projects. But as the students are experimenting a new technique, they don’t have the knowledge to control everything. Therefore, their animations are wobbly and relaxed, which I find charming.
